D-Mannose<\/strong> is a simple, good tasting sugar structurally related to glucose. D-mannose is being absorbed in the upper part of the intestnal tract, and not metabolized in the body. Wihtin 1 hour, approx 90% can be found in the blood, and it does not have an influence on the intestine or sugar metabolism. It is being secreted via the bladder and urinary tract. Cranberries are used as a juice of as supplement, because of the presence of D-mannose, present in low concentrations. D-mannose as food supplement therefore is much stronger then the cranberry capsules.
