Description

Vitamin D3 can be synthesized by humans in the skin when exposed to ultraviolet-B (UVB) radiation from sunlight. But, due to the winter season, weather conditions, and sunscreen, the body’s ability to produce optimal vitamin D levels can be inhibited. These factors point to the importance of taking a daily vitamin D supplement.

Vitamin D3 contributes to the normal use of Calcium and Phosphorus by the body, increases the absorption of calcium in the bones, has a beneficial effect on the cell division process, aids the immune system and helps to reduce the risks of falls in connection with postural stability and muscle weakness. Falling is a risk factor for fractures in men and women over the age of 60. The current RDA is 600 IU. Due to the widespread vitamin D deficiency, leading nutritionists have called on Americans to increase their vitamin D intake to 1,000 IU per day and above. We recommend at least 2,000 IU of vitamin D each day in healthy adults. The goal of taking a vitamin D supplement is to achieve an optimal 25-hydroxy vitamin D level in the blood of between 50-80 ng/ml.
