Description

The Gut Microbiome Plus Stool Test includes the microbiological analysis of key aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, as well as fungi and yeasts (Candida albicans and Candida spp.), digestive residues and ฮฑ-1-antitrypsin, calprotectin, bile acids, pancreatic elastase, secretory IgA and zonulin in the stool. Furthermore, the human intestinal microbiome is determined by sequencing the genome of the intestinal flora.

About this test

The intestinal microbiome, the sum total of all microorganisms that colonize the gut, is vital to human health. A dysbiosis of the gut microbiome is associated โ€“ as numerous studies prove โ€“ with several diseases: metabolic syndrome, diabetes, inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohnโ€™s disease and ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, colon cancer, calcium oxalate kidney stones, cardiovascular diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, as well as neurological diseases.

The gut microbiome Plus stool test is performed by means of DNA sequencing (next-generation sequence). This method revolutionized diagnostics as it allowed the detection of almost all bacteria known until then. DNA sequencing allows a more accurate assessment of the effects of individual highly complex microbiota on colonization resistance, digestive processes, absorption of nutrients and vitamins, as well as on immunity. This molecular biological test method also detects anaerobic bacteria at the highest technical level, which cannot be detected via a bacterial culture (cultivation). In addition, this test includes the parameters of the Bowel Health Check including zonulin in the stool.
